Extended Special on Bill 44

If you have been following Alberta news, you have been following Bill 44. The bill contains a controversial section that involves teachers, parents, students and education on sexuality, sexual orientation, and religion. Critics call the new section draconian, supporters call it a step in the right direction. CJSW News ran a special extended special on Monday, May 26th on Bill 44. Audio from the special can be found below. Guests included the minister responsible for the bill, MLA Lindsay Blackett, Frank Brueseker, the president of the Alberta Teachers’ Association, and former Conservative Senator and MLA Ron Ghitter.

University Lauches New School of Public Policy

On May 13th, the University of Calgary launched the new School of Public Policy at the Hyatt hotel in downtown Calgary. Inside, the gala included speeches from Ed Stelmach, Harvey Weingarten, and former U.S Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Outside, a small group of protesters, including University of Calgary students, gathered to protest the event.
